Plan your move - Tips and ideas
Pack and label carefully
If you choose to self-pack, start early and don't overload cartons, especially large ones. Mark them clearly and include information such as 'This way up' or 'Fragile'. We can supply you with professional packing materials if you choose to pack all or some of your own goods.
Floor plan
Draw a floor plan of you new house and mark items with the room names so that we can deliver them to the right locations. In the case of larger items, you may also want to indicate where in the room you would like them placed.
Books, records, CDs & plates
Limit books to no more than 30 to a box and pack plates, CDs and Records on their sides.
China and glass
Line the storage box with shredded paper and use tissue paper to wrap pieces individually. Mark the box 'Fragile'.
Securing appliances
Washing machines, tumble dryers, computer scanners and printers, etc. should have their securing bolts set before moving them.
Put together a removals day "Survival Kit"
Put a range of items in a separate place so they don't go in the van.
